Breakfast in Lào Cai, Vietnam isn’t just a meal — it’s a ritual. 🍜This was filmed when I first moved to Vietnam, capturing my earliest mornings as an expat teacher. I sit down for a bowl of pho, showing how locals clean their chopsticks, squeeze the lemon, and enjoy breakfast before work. It’s a window into daily life in northern Vietnam and the traditions that surround every meal.📍 In This Video You’ll See:Morning street breakfast in Lào Cai, VietnamThe ritual of eating pho the local wayHow chopsticks and condiments are used traditionallyThe atmosphere of early mornings in northern Vietnam✨ Pho isn’t just food — it’s part of the rhythm of daily life here.🔔 Subscribe for more: 📌 Watch my full Vietnam playlist: #Vietnam #LaoCai #LàoCai #Pho #VietnameseFood #ExpatLife #TravelVietnam📌 Pinned Comment (Copy & Paste)This was one of my very first breakfasts in Lào Cai, Vietnam as an expat. 🍜What’s the most memorable food ritual you’ve experienced while traveling or living abroad?👉 Watch more of my Vietnam journey here: #Vietnam #LaoCai #LàoCai #Pho #VietnameseFood #ExpatLife #TravelVietnam
There is a special ritual from how you choose your chop sticks, clean them and create your morning dish. You will often be the only person in the restaurant in Tier 3-4 cities and will know the cook by name. They take pride in their craft of cooking so its polite and proper to eat the traditional way. Another thing to note is people in the North can be very camera shy and are NOT used to being filmed by westerners. So if you come to live here, be sure explain what you are filming and ask if its okay to keep the footage after. (Use Google translate in you cant speak Vietnamese) 9/10 the amazing people of Lao Cai will be happy to let you show their life, trades and homes but always be polite about it. I have lived and taught here for years now and my name and reputation is known. It took a long time to earn that and the respect of the locals. Keep your word, Have honor, Respect the culture and the people and DONT act like a stupid westerner tourist. Show respect for we are guest of this amazing country and should be honored to teach/work/live here!
Forks are horrible tools for eating noodles 😂 so much easier with the chopsticks. I love those little limes they really do improve the favor! Hope you have a nice Vietnamese Independence Day!
